The Bombardier Global Express XRS entered service in 2006 as an upgraded version of the Global Express, introducing Rolls-Royce BR710A2-20 engines for improved performance and extended range to 6,150 nm, plus Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4 avionics with HUD as standard. The XRS retained the Global Express's widebody 40'3" cabin and 7'11" cross-section while adding avionics and range improvements that positioned it competitively against the Gulfstream G550 and Dassault Falcon 900LX. Approximately 115 were delivered.

Why charter it

The case for the Global Express XRS.

Technology in service of the ride

Up front the Global Express XRS carries Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4 (six-tube EFIS, HUD optional, TCAS II), whose situational awareness and automation translate into smoother, quieter, more precise flying for everyone in the cabin. Modern flight management also unlocks the steep, satellite-guided approaches that get the aircraft into demanding airports. Good avionics rarely make the brochure, yet passengers feel them on every leg.

Reliability you can plan around

The Global Express XRS was built to work hard, its 2× Rolls-Royce BR710A2-20 (14,750 lbf each) and redundant systems giving the dispatch reliability that keeps a charter day on the rails. Mature types carry a known maintenance rhythm, which means fewer last-minute swaps and cleaner scheduling. That predictability is worth as much to a client as any cabin feature on the type.

The detail insiders point to

A fact that flatters the type: The XRS added fuel and thrust to the Global Express, pushing nonstop range past 6,000 miles while keeping the widebody, three-zone cabin. Small wonder it remains a favourite on charter fleets.

Cost-effective charter

The Global Express XRS is efficient over the sectors it flies most, and lower fuel burn and running costs feed straight into a keener charter price, especially on a well-timed one-way or empty-leg booking. You get the cabin and the range without paying to move a larger, thirstier jet. For value per mile, this ultra long range jet is one of the smarter picks in its class.

Airports the airlines skip

As an ultra long range jet the Global Express XRS reaches thousands of smaller, more convenient airfields, landing far closer to where you are actually going than the big hubs and cutting the drive at the far end. Balanced field length and strong brakes let it use runways the airlines cannot sell a ticket into. On a point-to-point charter the aircraft can turn a two-hour transfer into a fifteen-minute one.

Range that removes the fuel stop

With about 6150 nautical miles in hand the Global Express XRS turns a two-stop itinerary into a single hop, comfortably flying London to Los Angeles, nonstop and handing back the hours a fuel stop would cost. Crews plan a little under the book figure, since headwinds and a full cabin trim usable range, but on the sectors clients fly most this ultra long range jet reaches its destination without pause. On a ultra long range jet charter that reach is what buys back a whole half-day.

The honest view

Disadvantages of the Global Express XRS as a charter aircraft, and how we weigh them:

Priced at the top of its class

The Global Express XRS sits at the sharper end of its category on price, a reflection of its cabin, reputation and capability. Where budget is the single deciding factor a smaller or slightly older type can charter for less, and our advisors will say so plainly when it is the smarter call.

If outright top speed or the newest cabin technology is your single priority, a more recent design may edge it, yet for most travellers the Global Express XRS balance of comfort, capability and value is the more meaningful advantage on the day.

As alternatives to the Global Express XRS, it is worth weighing the Global 6000 and the Global 6500, both able aircraft in the same bracket. Broadly the Global 6000 tends to charter for a little less, while the Global Express XRS keeps the more modern flight deck, so the right pick comes down to your exact route, party and budget, which our advisors are glad to lay out side by side.

The bottom line is that the Global Express XRS is a superb choice for intercontinental charter, pairing a comfortable cabin with dependable performance for travellers who value their time. Fly with Andreea arranges the whole journey around you, with a firm all-in price and a reply within 30 minutes.

Global Express XRS, your questions answered

How much does it cost to charter the Bombardier Global Express XRS?+
Charter pricing for the Bombardier Global Express XRS typically runs from around EUR 13,000 to 18,000 per flight hour, with the final figure shaped by your routing, dates, aircraft positioning and ground time. As an ultra long range jet it sits in the corresponding bracket, and in our experience arranging Bombardier Global Express XRS charters a well-timed one-way or off-peak booking is often far more competitive than clients expect. Share your route and we return a firm, all-in price within 30 minutes.
What is the range of the Bombardier Global Express XRS, and which routes can it fly nonstop?+
The Bombardier Global Express XRS has a range of roughly 6,150 nautical miles (11,390 km), enough to fly London to Los Angeles, nonstop without a fuel stop. In real operations we plan a little conservatively, since headwinds and a full cabin trim usable range, but on the sectors our clients fly most the Bombardier Global Express XRS reliably turns a two-stop itinerary into a single, seamless hop.
How many passengers can the Bombardier Global Express XRS carry?+
The Bombardier Global Express XRS seats up to 13 guests. For longer flights we usually suggest booking a seat or two below the maximum, which frees space to spread out, work and sleep, and we configure every cabin to the party, whether that is a family, a board or a couple who simply want the whole aircraft to themselves.
How fast is the Bombardier Global Express XRS, and how long do typical flights take?+
The Bombardier Global Express XRS cruises at about 513 knots (950 km/h), around Mach 0.90. In practice that is roughly 1h 21m over 1,000 km and about 4h 31m over 4,000 km. Speed is where this aircraft quietly earns its keep, routinely saving our clients an hour or more against slower types, time handed back at either end of the day.
What is the cabin of the Bombardier Global Express XRS like?+
Step aboard the Bombardier Global Express XRS and the first impression is space and quiet: roughly 6 ft 3 in of headroom, a cabin pressurised and insulated so conversation stays easy and engine noise fades into the background. We find guests consistently step off a Bombardier Global Express XRS flight noticeably fresher than they would from a comparable commercial trip.
How much luggage can the Bombardier Global Express XRS carry?+
The Bombardier Global Express XRS offers about 195 cubic feet of baggage volume, comfortably around 39 large suitcases plus soft bags, and in our experience it swallows skis, golf clubs and a pram without drama. We confirm the exact hold capacity for your specific aircraft and party at the time of booking.
Which airports can the Bombardier Global Express XRS use?+
As an ultra long range jet, the Bombardier Global Express XRS can reach a very wide spread of airports, including shorter, more convenient runways closer to your final destination than the large hubs. We check runway length, altitude and slot availability for every departure and arrival so the aircraft lands as near to where you are going as possible.
On which frequent routes is the Bombardier Global Express XRS chartered?+
The Bombardier Global Express XRS is chartered on a wide spread of city pairs. Popular capital-to-capital routes well within its 6,150 nm reach include Jeddah to Riyadh, Milan to Istanbul, Dubai to New York and Abu Dhabi to New York. We fly it on hundreds of other sectors too, so tell us your route and we will confirm the aircraft and a firm all-in price.
How does the Bombardier Global Express XRS compare to other ultra long range jets?+
Against other ultra long range jets such as the Global 6000 and the Global 6500, the Bombardier Global Express XRS stands out for its balance of range, cabin comfort and real-world reliability. There is rarely a single best jet, only the best jet for a given route and party, and our advisors are happy to lay the options side by side so you can choose on the facts.
Is the Bombardier Global Express XRS a good choice for long-haul, intercontinental travel?+
Yes. With about 6,150 nautical miles of range, the Bombardier Global Express XRS is genuinely built for intercontinental travel, linking continents nonstop. On the longest legs we plan fuel, winds and payload carefully, and where a nonstop is marginal we say so honestly and propose the smoothest single stop rather than promise the impossible.
What engines power the Bombardier Global Express XRS, and how reliable is it?+
The Bombardier Global Express XRS is powered by 2× Rolls-Royce BR710A2-20 (14,750 lbf each). It runs the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4 (six-tube EFIS, HUD optional, TCAS II) avionics suite. It is a mature, well-supported design, and reliability is exactly why we place clients on it, because the smoothest charter is the one that departs on time and arrives without a second thought.
Can I bring my pets on board the Bombardier Global Express XRS?+
Yes. Pets fly in the cabin beside you on the Bombardier Global Express XRS, never in a hold, and in our experience this is one of the main reasons families choose private in the first place. We brief you well ahead on microchip, vaccination and paperwork for your specific route so boarding is effortless.
At what altitude does the Bombardier Global Express XRS cruise, and why does that matter?+
The Bombardier Global Express XRS cruises as high as 51,000 feet. Flying above most weather and commercial traffic means a smoother, quieter ride and more direct routings, and a lower effective cabin altitude is a large part of why guests arrive feeling rested rather than drained.
Is there a more affordable way to charter the Bombardier Global Express XRS?+
Often, yes. Empty-leg and one-way pricing on the Bombardier Global Express XRS can be a fraction of a standard round trip when your dates are flexible, and off-peak departures help too. We watch live availability and flag genuine ultra long range jet opportunities the moment they appear.
